Summer Treat! Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

Summer Treat! Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

I’ve seen pictures of these cupcakes but never tackled them until this week. I was invited to an ice cream party in the park with the kids and thought they might be perfect.

They are basically cupcakes bakes in an ice-cream cone instead of a bun case. so are very straight forward to make. You can use practically any cupcake or bun recipe and just divide the batter into the cones.

For more info on how to make these buns and some tips that I picked up when I baked them check out my Tutorials and Tips page!

Pretty Vintage Cupcakes

Pretty Vintage Cupcakes

I attended a vintage cupcake decorating class run by the talented Cat Lawlor from http://www.thecakecuppery.ie ages ago and even if I say so myself, I was well impressed with my end result. In fairness it took a while to get the look right and I did make quite a mess….but the finished product was worth it me thinks! The one that my friends liked the most was the pink and white stripey cupcake with the bow and it was one of the designs that I found easier. Happy days!

I’ll attempt the stripey cupcakes again by myself and take a few pictures while I do it so that I can show how to create the effect. Hopefully they will turn out like they did last time!

neh neh neh neh neh neh neh neh….BATMAN cake

neh neh neh neh neh neh neh neh....BATMAN cake

I made this cake for a friends son and followed advice from http://www.rosebakes.com on how to do it. Rose gave great tips and I love her website and cakes!
I really enjoyed making a boys cake after all the Minnie Mouse baking and was very happy with how it turned out.
It’s an 8 inch Madeira cake with jam and butter cream covered in sugarpaste and the birthday boy loved it, so I was a happy lady

The Grand Finale to Minnie Mouse Mania – The Cake!

The Grand Finale to Minnie Mouse Mania - The Cake!

The cupcakes were the starting point and the cake was the main event. I really enjoyed doing the bow and putting the cake together. I have to be honest, the ears nearly broke my heart as I struggled to get them to stand up. I got there in the end though! The cake itself was an 8inch madeira cake with chocolate buttercream frosting covered in sugarpaste. It didn’t last long which I was thrilled about!
